He is also called the Lord of Destruction (Not Baal from Diablo II!). By destruction it means that he destroys all evils. If he wants, he can wipe the entire paradigm of existence.
His ‘Tandav’ or the fierce dance of destruction is capable of annihilating the entire reality.
Fortunately, it hasn’t happened yet (and let’s hope it does not happen in the near future!)
In your case, he can get rid of the evil spirits and bad omens.
Lord Shiva is a very simple deity. His lifestyle is minimalistic. And he does not expect expensive offerings to be pleased. So you don’t exactly have your work cut out, so to speak.
All it takes to please this deity, is to chant the Shivopasana Mantra. The only condition is, that your devotion must be unquestionable.
Sound easy, right?
Not really. It is the hardest easy thing you need to do. Absolute devotion takes an immense amount of patience.
And this is the reason why it sounds easy, but you might spend your entire lifetime in this pursuit.
But more on that later. First, you need to know what Shivopasana Mantra is.
When we say Lord Shiva is the destroyer, it refers to the cycle of life and death.
He makes sure that the soul achieves salvation and is freed from the cruelty of existence and it transforms into a being of pure consciousness with eternal peace.
But it does not happen automatically. He needs a calling with worship and asked for ‘Moksha Prapti’ or salvation.
He is a very simple-minded deity and does not care for any malice. This is why even the Rakshasas (evil people) were able to receive his blessings.
Shivopasana is worship, meditation and prayers of Lord Shiva, who is also called Rudra.
While all deities represent images of a man or woman, He is symbolized by ‘Shivlinga’ which the representation of ultimate masculinity.
And all procedures followed while performing the Puja are carried out on this ‘Shivalinga’.
It is done before systematic Hom(fire) Havan(offering) and ‘Strotra’. This is called as Laghurudra or Maharudra.
Before chanting this Rudra Mantra, the Shivopasana Mantra is chanted. First of all, on the auspicious day of Monday, Monday in the month of Shravan from the Indian Calendar, Maha Shivratri, Tripur Poornima, this Rudra puja can be done.
We are always in different kind of troubles for unknown reasons. These are a series of misfortunes, like unsuccessful, critical illness, lack of funds or loss due to others deceiving, bad omen etc.
Sometimes our horoscope shows a bad union of planets, Pitrudosh, Kaalsarp Yog or prediction of untimely death of somebody in our family.
Ladies should strictly observe not to chant in periods. It is better to do ‘Yadnya’ and offer ghee as well as samidha with each Mantra of Rudra.
The hall should be full of fragrance of essence sticksand ghee lamps. The Abhishek (pouring) of milk is advised until full chanting.
Shiva means purity, truth and beauty – सत्यं शिवं सुन्दरं(Satyam, Shivam, Sunderam). So,everything that has to be done should be clean, white, beautiful.
In this way, Shivopasana Mantra can lead you towards a divine path, free from all the ‘Moha-Maya’(relations) of life.
